Just saw this on a car site.
http://jalopnik.com/5565253/next+gen-mazda-miata-may-go-rotary-hybrid
Interesting concept but I read that one reason they were kiboshing the 8 was because of new emission standards in Europe that Mazda could not meet.
Go figure. _________________ 2004 Ti

Well they're rebuilding the Renesis from the ground up to meet new emissions standards, increase power and gas mileage. It's part of their new campaign to make SUPER MOTARZ!!!!! They're also supposedly working on a new rotary engine project. We'll see. _________________ '04 Titanium Grey 6spd "Reese" 97k

Im all for a cleaner fuel alternative but leave the batteries out of cars. I outgrew my electric car by age 5. By the way electricity is not always generated by the best/cleanest sources either, hmmmm. As for the Rotary Miata, should of been done from the begining by Mazda even if it was as an option. Look at VW, the R32 comes out every 4 years only. _________________ 2005 GT WB, MS Kit, Eye Brows, K&N Filter, Volks GTS 19" (F 8.5 +34- R 9.5 +37) on Continental DW Extreme (F 245-35 R 275-30), R-Fenders rolled, i-rotors, SS brk lines, RB REV8 (-Cat/non resonated) exhaust, OEM ipod conn., tinted head/tail light kit. |

Not happening, unless they change the name to RX-5 Miata. And the RX-5 is not a miata, it's more like a Cosmos (family car)
Some images...

That idea of a rotor powered MX-5 has been around since the before the NC body style came out.... It keeps getting hte heck beaten out of it. There will never be a rotor powered factory MX-5.
My 2 cents and thats coming from a Miata owner! _________________ 2007 Phantom Blue Mica Rx-8
